Miami Marlins outfielders Starling Marte and Monte Harrison were involved in a clubhouse incident earlier this week in Washington, sources told SportsGrid's Craig Mish.

Harrison was the instigator of the confrontation, according to Mish's sources.

While the Marlins have not released any details, the team has reportedly handled it internally.

Miami lost two of three to the Nationals during a recent series, including an 18-1 shellacking on Monday, where Harrison was 1-for-3 with a double. The 25-year-old was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday.

Marte, who did not play on Monday, is one of the Marlins' top players. The 32-year-old is slashing .289/.388/.445 with 23 RBIs and 19 steals in 59 games.

The Dominican outfielder has been mentioned in several trade rumors ahead of MLB's July 30 deadline.
