Veteran left-hander Cole Hamels will hold a pitching showcase on July 16 in an attempt to return to Major League Baseball, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will reportedly be among the teams in attendance to see the southpaw throw, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. While other clubs are to be determined, contenders looking to shore up rotation depth ahead of the season's stretch run could be interested in Hamels.

The 37-year-old went unsigned this past offseason after shoulder and triceps injuries limited him to 3 1/3 innings with the Atlanta Braves in 2020, his lone season with the club.

A four-time All-Star, Hamels owns a career record of 163-122 with a 3.43 ERA, and 1.18 WHIP to go along with 2,560 strikeouts over 15 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Braves.

Hamels was a key member of the 2008 World Series champion Phillies, winning MVP honors in both the NLCS and World Series as a 24-year-old.
