The Pittsburgh Pirates and infielder Dee Strange-Gordon have agreed to a minor-league deal, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The speedy utility man is reportedly expected to report to Triple-A Indianapolis. Strange-Gordon has been released by the Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago Cubs this year. He hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2020 when he hit .200/.268/.213 with three steals over 33 games with the Seattle Mariners.

Strange-Gordon, 33, has played 10 major-league seasons and owns a .679 OPS with 333 stolen bases over 1,002 games between the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, and Mariners.

The two-time All-Star has predominantly played middle infield but has also made appearances in the outfield.

The Pirates currently have Adam Frazier as their everyday second baseman, but the 29-year-old is drawing interest on the trade market with the deadline looming.
