Atlanta Braves right-hander Mike Soroka will undergo exploratory surgery on his surgically repaired Achilles after experiencing a setback, manager Brian Snitker said Wednesday, according to David O'Brien of The Athletic.
Snitker added that Soroka said he thought something was wrong while doing regular conditioning and other activities.
The 23-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since tearing his right Achilles tendon in early August 2020. He was then shut down in April due to right shoulder inflammation.
Soroka, who was a 2019 All-Star and finished sixth in NL Cy Young voting, owns a career 2.86 ERA over 214 innings (37 starts) for the Braves since 2018.
