A game-used Ty Cobb baseball bat broke the seven-figure mark in a private sale recently.

The 34.5-inch, 40.1-ounce ash Hillerich & Bradsby bat - graded a perfect GU 10 by PSA - was purchased for $1.1 million, according to TMZ Sports. Both the buyer and seller have asked to remain anonymous.

The bat still contains cleat marks and tobacco juice stains and was accompanied by a hand-written note from Cobb in which he mentioned using it during the last year of his career. The buyer told TMZ that Cobb actually used the bat for seven seasons, including his 1922 campaign with the Detroit Tigers when he batted .401.

"In this case, when you consider the classic Ty Cobb characteristics this bat exhibits, along with its impeccable provenance, it's no wonder this gamer became the first of its kind to crack the $1-million barrier," said Joe Orlando, CEO of PSA's parent company, Collectors Universe. "From his signature taped handle, which is totally intact, to the tobacco juice-soaked barrel, the eye appeal of this baseball relic is elite."

Another game-used Cobb bat from the early part of his career sold for $325,000 in 2019 in a private sale.
