Pirates sign Tyler Anderson to 1-year, deal worth reported $2.5M
The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed left-hander Tyler Anderson to a one-year contract, general manager Ben Cherington announced.
The deal is worth $2.5 million, a source told Jake Crouse of MLB.com.
Anderson joins the Pirates after spending last season with the San Francisco Giants, where he primarily worked as a starter. In 59 2/3 innings with the Giants, he posted a 4.37 ERA, 4.36 FIP, and 1.39 WHIP with 41 strikeouts and 25 walks. Anderson did do a good job of limiting the long ball, allowing just five home runs.
The 30-year-old will add some more experience to a young Pirates rotation that lost stalwarts Jameson Taillon and Joe Musgrove this offseason.
San Francisco non-tendered Anderson in December.
To make room for Anderson on the 40-man roster, Pittsburgh transferred right-hander Jose Soriano to the 60-day injured list.
