The Los Angeles Dodgers were in the hunt for Marcell Ozuna before the free-agent slugger re-signed with the Atlanta Braves.

The Dodgers offered Ozuna a two-year contract, a source told Juan Toribio of MLB.com. The financial terms of the reported offer weren't disclosed.

Ozuna, who finished sixth in NL MVP voting in 2020, ended up returning to the Braves on a four-year, $65-million pact.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers and Justin Turner are at a contract impasse, according to Toribio. The third baseman reportedly wants a three- or four-year deal, while L.A. prefers a one- or two-year contract.

The team is around $28 million over the $210-million luxury-tax threshold after adding star pitcher Trevor Bauer on Friday. A reunion with Turner could push the club's 2021 salary to $250 million, resulting in a 42.5% tax penalty.

The Dodgers would also see a 10-spot drop for their highest pick in the 2021 MLB Draft if they reach the quarter-billion mark.
