Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer believes his new team has a chance to contend for the foreseeable future.

"I think they're right there," Springer said Wednesday, according to Sportsnet. "When you play against this team like I have, you can see the talent, can see the potential in their lineup ... in their arms. I think with some guidance, I think guys like Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, Nate Pearson, and Vladdy (Guerrero Jr.) ... will shine. I think this team is built to win and I think they're ... built to win for a long time."

The 2017 World Series MVP sees a lot of similarities between the Blue Jays and Houston Astros. The three-time All-Star spent seven years playing with homegrown stars such as Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, and Carlos Correa in Houston, which included two trips to the Fall Classic and a championship in 2017.

Springer will now have the opportunity to suit up with the Blue Jays' young core after signing a six-year, $150-million contract in free agency.

"They're very, very ambitious," Springer said when asked about his new teammates, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. "They want to work hard. It's awesome to see."

He added, "The way the front office has really gotten behind their guys, the messages that they really believe in this team - that's very important to me."

Despite the personal and team accolades, Springer's tenure with the Astros was marred by the electronic sign-stealing scandal. When questioned about the scandal, the 31-year-old stressed the faith he has in himself and his old teammates.

"I believe in myself. I believe in my performances. I believe in the team that was there," Springer said, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.
