The Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams to have checked in on Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network, who adds no discussions have happened in recent weeks.

The Blue Jays were rumored to be heading into the offseason as one of the big players at the beginning of winter. However, nothing has come to fruition thus far. The club was reportedly interested in four-time All-Star Francisco Lindor before he was traded to the New York Mets; everyone else the team has been tied to either remains a free agent or has stayed with their club.

The Mets and Washington Nationals have also reportedly shown interest in Bryant.

Bryant, 29, is a member of a Cubs club currently going through a transition, having already dealt Cy Young runner-up Yu Darvish to the San Diego Padres and non-tendered Kyle Schwarber, who has since signed a one-year deal with the Washington Nationals.

The former MVP struggled in 2020, hitting .206/.293/.351 with four home runs over 34 games. For his career, Bryant owns an .889 OPS in six seasons with the Cubs - 34 percentage points better than the league average, according to OPS+.

Bryant won the NL Rookie of the Year unanimously in 2015 and missed out on a unanimous NL MVP selection by one vote the following season.

The three-time All-Star is heading into his final year of arbitration eligibility and is projected to earn $18.6 million in 2021, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
