Report: Astros, White Sox among teams pursuing Colome
The Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins, and Chicago White Sox are all interested in free-agent reliever Alex Colome, Robert Murray of FanSided reports.
Colome, 32, has spent the last two seasons with the White Sox, posting a 2.27 ERA while recording 42 saves across 83 appearances.
He was particularly reliable in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season with an 0.81 ERA and 0.94 WHIP; he finished tied for third in the American League with 12 saves.
Colome is an eight-year veteran who spent the first five-plus seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Free agency has been slow-moving so far this offseason and the relief pitcher market has been no exception. Liam Hendriks, Brad Hand, and Colome are among the best options available.
