Pujols passes Willie Mays for 5th all time on HR leaderboard

Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols has sole possession of fifth on Major League Baseball's all-time home run list after surpassing Willie Mays with his 661st dinger on Friday night.

The Machine collected the momentous homer off of Texas Rangers left-hander Wes Benjamin.

In his very next at-bat, the 40-year-old hit the 662nd home run of his career.

Next on the list for Pujols is Alex Rodriguez with 696 before getting to the illustrious and incredibly elusive 700-homer club, formed by Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth.

A surefire Hall of Famer, Pujols is a three-time MVP, 10-time All-Star, six-time Silver Slugger, and two-time Gold Glove winner while also helping the St. Louis Cardinals win a pair of World Series championships. Over his storied 20-year career, Pujols has authored a .299/.378/.547 slash line, racking up 2,098 RBIs.
