New York Mets outfielder Jeff McNeil was carted off the field during Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals after he crashed into the outfield wall while making a spectacular running catch.
McNeil injured his knee on the play. He initially took a couple of steps but was unable to continue walking under his own power.
Mets manager Luis Rojas said postgame that the All-Star is day-to-day after suffering a bone contusion in his knee, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic.
The versatile 28-year-old entered Thursday's action hitting .293/.358/.362 through 16 games this season.
Billy Hamilton replaced McNeil in the field.
