Fans may not be allowed inside the ballpark during the 2020 MLB season, but Philadelphia Phillies supporters are an industrious bunch.
A group of Phillies faithful called the "Phandemic Krew" gathered outside Citizens Bank Park armed with an airhorn to support the team from a distance during Thursday's contest against the New York Yankees.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone did not appreciate their exuberance, making a complaint to the umpires in the third inning due to the distraction.
"The environment we're in, it's almost like a golf environment," Boone said postgame, according to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia. "I thought there was a timing element to it."
The umpires informed Boone they weren't in a position to discipline fans outside the stadium.
In addition to the airhorn, the fans also put together a drumline during Wednesday's game. The tactics apparently paid dividends as the Phillies came away with a 5-4 victory.
