Stanton says he'll be ready for Opening Day
New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton says he'll be ready for Opening Day, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
Stanton has been dealing with a calf strain since February and was originally slated to miss the start of the 2020 season before the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the campaign.
The 30-year-old was limited to 72 plate appearances last season due to bicep, shoulder, and knee injuries, but Stanton says he's healthy again now.
Stanton is entering his third full season with the Yankees after being shipped from the Miami Marlins in a blockbuster trade. In his tenure with New York, Stanton has slashed .268/.349/.507 with 41 home runs in 176 games.
The Yankees begin their condensed 2020 schedule on July 23 against the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals.
