Major League Baseball teams will be able to play an abbreviated exhibition schedule before the 2020 season begins, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

The league reportedly informed all 30 teams Thursday that they can schedule up to three exhibition games against nearby opponents at the end of resumed spring training camps. Teams that do not have any opposing clubs training nearby may instead play games against their Opening Day foes, according to Rosenthal.

Most MLB teams will stage training camps in their home cities rather than at their complexes in Florida or Arizona. The Toronto Blue Jays are one of the only teams still in limbo due to international travel restrictions between Canada and the U.S.

The 2020 MLB season will begin on July 23, with teams playing 60-game schedules against regional opponents. A full schedule has been approved by the Major League Baseball Players Association but has not yet been released to teams, according to The Athletic's Evan Drellich.
