A number of Major League Baseball teams are revising their return plans after a rise in coronavirus cases in Florida.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that the Yankees and Mets are now planning to hold spring training in their home state rather than their facilities in Florida.

"To have spring training in New York is a really great development," Cuomo said, according to Newsday. "The infection rate is down low compared to other states, such as Florida."

MLB was forced to temporarily close all 30 spring training complexes in Florida and Arizona on Friday for deep cleaning after several players and staff members from different teams tested positive for COVID-19.

Florida's Department of Health announced Saturday that the state set a new daily record with 4,049 cases, according to Carli Teproff of the Miami Herald.

There is still no firm date for when MLB's second spring training will take place.
