We enjoyed a 3-1 Tuesday on the diamond, including a perfect 2-0 in the ESPN game, nailing both the Lotte Giants and the under.

Let's keep that momentum going into Wednesday.

ESPN game: SK Wyverns (+165) @ Doosan Bears (-200)

We were all over the under yesterday in what we touted as an enticing pitcher's duel, but the opposite could be the case in Wednesday's televised game.

Moon Seung-won and Yu Hui-kwan start for the Wyverns and Bears respectively, and both have disappointed early this season. Moon's posted a 5.62 ERA and 1.69 WHIP through three starts, recording a no-decision in each, with the Wyverns coincidentally losing in the 10th inning all three times. However, an outstanding 18-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio indicates he's had excellent command but has gotten rather unlucky with a high BABIP.

That suggests positive regression is coming as Moon looks to get closer to the impressive 3.88 ERA and 1.13 WHIP he managed in 26 games last season (including seven shutout innings and three hits in his most recent start against the Bears).

His counterpart on Wednesday is in a similar boat. Yu's coming off an impressive 2019 campaign (3.25 ERA, 1.28 WHIP), but hasn't replicated that success through three starts. He's been tagged for 24 hits in 15 innings while walking more batters (six) than he's struck out (five).

Yu's career numbers are also rather unimpressive, suggesting his strong 2019 campaign was an outlier. Even in the midst of an excellent season, he was miserable in two starts against SK last year: He went 0-2, allowing eight runs as he lasted a combined six innings.

Given Yu's struggles and Moon's strong underlying numbers, there's a lot of value with the home 'dog here - though I've been burned countless times by the last-place Wyverns this season, as they've apparently been unable to recover mentally from last year's late collapse. Tread lightly, but at this price, it's SK or nothing for me.

Pick: Wyverns (+165)

Other picks:

  • KT Wiz first five innings (play up to -180)
  • Hanwha Eagles (+130)
