MLB The Show Players League awards: Gallo wins Best Player
With the MLB The Show Players League wrapping up Sunday, several awards were handed out to commemorate the first edition of the tournament that has kept players and fans busy during baseball's hiatus.
Despite finishing the regular season in second and losing to Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs in the postseason quarterfinals, Texas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo was honored with the Best Player Award after opening the league with an 11-game winning streak.
Gallo received 39.79% of the fan vote and 10 of 30 votes from the players. Regular-season winner and postseason champion Blake Snell placed second, followed by Dwight Smith Jr. and Bo Bichette, respectively.
