MLB The Show league launching with players from all 30 teams

NA / MLB The Show 20 / Sony Studios

Major League Baseball, the MLB Players Association, and Sony Interactive Entertainment are jointly launching a competitive MLB The Show 20 league that will feature players from all 30 teams, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com.

It will get underway Friday, April 10, and the regular season will run through April 28. A postseason will follow on April 30 with the top eight teams qualifying. The first rounds will be settled by a best-of-three with a best-of-five World Series closing out the tournament on May 2.

The games will be three innings in length, with three-to-five contests being played on a given day.

The season opener will be between Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Blake Snell and Cincinnati Reds reliever Amir Garrett, according to Joon Lee of ESPN. It's a rematch of the finals from a recent MLB The Show tournament, from which Garrett emerged victorious. While the game is being live-streamed at 9 p.m. ET on Snell's Twitch channel, talks have reportedly begun with the league's broadcast partners to potentially televise the matchups.

Each player will receive a $5,000 donation to a Boys and Girls Club affiliate in their team's community, with the winner of the tournament winning an additional $25,000.
