With Opening Day pushed back to mid-May at the earliest, uncertainty about the immediate future for players and staff members has abounded.
Yankees union rep Zack Britton said the MLBPA recommends that players go wherever they are comfortable for the next four-to-six weeks, according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News.
Britton, like Boone, is electing to return home to see family, though he plans to come back to the team's spring complex afterwards. Players aren't required to leave if they feel most comfortable in Tampa.
In addition to Boone and Britton, coaches Marcus Thames, Mike Harley, and the majority of the other staff members are apparently leaving, Ackert adds.
