Major League Baseball on Monday handed Houston Astros right-hander Francis Martes a 162-game suspension for violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for the second time in his career.

Martes, 24, tested positive for Boldenone, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The right-hander earned an 80-game ban in March 2019 after testing positive for Clomiphene.

"It is disappointing when any player is in violation of the policies that are in place," the Astros said in a statement obtained by Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. "We hope Francis will learn from this experience."

Martes last appeared in the majors in 2017, posting a 5.80 ERA and 4.45 FIP over 54 1/3 innings.
