Brewers' Urias questionable for Opening Day after hand surgery

One of the Milwaukee Brewers' biggest offseason additions is questionable for Opening Day after Luis Urias required surgery on Tuesday to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, the team announced, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.

The middle infielder has been given an eight week expected recovery time by the club, which would place his return to action the week of MLB's scheduled Opening Day on March 26.

The Brewers acquired Urias from the San Diego Padres along with Eric Lauer in exchange for Zach Davies and Trent Grisham.

Urias, 22, has played 83 games at the major-league level and owns a .221/.318/.331 slash line with six homers and one stolen base.

Urias was expected to be the starting shortstop for the club. However, if he is not ready for Opening Day, the Brewers would likely turn to Orlando Arcia, who owns a .652 OPS over 479 career games.
