The Chicago Cubs and shortstop Javier Baez agreed to a one-year, $10-million contract to avoid arbitration, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Baez, 27, is still eligible for arbitration in 2021 and can become a free agent in 2022.
The two-time All-Star posted a .847 OPS with 29 home runs in 138 contests last season.
The Cubs have reportedly invested $42.66 million in six arbitration-eligible players.
