The Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Trevor Bauer agreed to a one-year contract to avoid arbitration, the club announced Friday.
His deal is worth $17.5 million, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Bauer's reported salary for 2020 is the second-highest ever for an arbitration-eligible pitcher, moving past Jacob deGrom's mark of $17 million from last year, according to Feinsand. David Price's 2015 salary of $19.75 million owns the record.
Bauer won his arbitration cases against the Cleveland Indians in each of the last two seasons.
The 28-year-old is scheduled to become a free agent after next season.
The former All-Star went 11-13 with a 4.48 ERA and a 10.7 K/9 rate between the Reds and Indians in 2019.
