New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone believes Giancarlo Stanton's third year in pinstripes will be one to remember.

The 30-year-old slugger was limited to just 18 games - in which he hit only three home runs - in 2019 due to multiple injuries. However, Boone feels 2020 will be a much different story.

"So the big thing is going to be just keeping him healthy, keeping him built up properly, using spring training smartly," the skipper said Tuesday on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio, according to Garrett Stepien of SNY. "And I do feel like he's got a special season. The desire and the burn is very much there."

Boone said Stanton was poised for a strong 2019 campaign before a wave of injuries essentially ruined his season.

"His at-bats and his focus and his process (were) really, really good last year," Boone said, according to Stepien. "I felt like he was going to have a monster season for us. And I feel that way very much going into this year."

Stanton slashed .266/.343/.509 with 38 home runs and 100 RBIs during his first season with New York in 2018 following a trade from the Miami Marlins.

The outfielder still has nine more years remaining on the $325-million contract he signed in November 2014.
