Major League Baseball is looking into accusations the Boston Red Sox used video replay rooms to illegally steal signs during the 2018 regular season, according to Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated.

Commissioner Rob Manfred said the probe will be just as comprehensive as the one the league is currently conducting over the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal.

"We’re going to investigate the Red Sox allegations with the same thoroughness and vigor that we did Houston," Manfred said Tuesday.

The league learned about Boston's possible indiscretions while investigating the Astros, according to Verducci, who adds that MLB wanted to remain private about the Red Sox investigation but made it public when Tuesday's allegations were revealed.

Manfred told team owner John Henry that he's "got no choice here" when the two talked Monday about the probe.

The organization could face severe discipline because the league warned the team following incidents in September 2017 and March 2018 about the illegal use of technology, according to Verducci.

The details of the second incident haven't been revealed. However, the club was fined in 2017 after the New York Yankees complained the Red Sox used an Apple Watch in the dugout to relay signs.

"I have received absolute assurances from the Red Sox that there will be no future violations of this type," Manfred said on Sept. 15, 2017, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
