The New York Mets and right-hander Michael Wacha have agreed to a contract, pending a physical, according to Tim Healey of Newsday.

It's a one-year deal worth $3 million, with $7 million in possible incentives, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

The 28-year-old former All-Star is represented by Creative Artists Agency, for which Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen worked prior to joining New York's front office.

Wacha posted a 4.76 ERA in 126 2/3 innings (24 starts) with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2019. His best season came in 2015 when he authored a 3.38 ERA and won 17 games.

New York was looking for another starting pitcher after Zack Wheeler joined the Philadelphia Phillies via free agency.
