The Colorado Rockies have signed right-handed pitcher Jose Mujica to a major-league contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Terms were not disclosed.

Mujica, 23, has never pitched in the majors. The Tampa Bay Rays signed him out of Venezuela in 2013, and he steadily advanced through their system before being added to the 40-man roster after the 2017 season.

Since then, injuries have halted his career. After his 2018 campaign was abbreviated by arm issues, Mujica underwent Tommy John surgery last September. The procedure forced him to miss the entire 2019 season.

Mujica posted a 2.70 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 34 strikeouts and 10 walks in seven starts for Triple-A Durham in 2018.

Colorado designated right-hander Wes Parsons for assignment in order to make room for Mujica on the 40-man roster. Parsons, 27, posted a 6.98 ERA in 15 relief appearances for the Rockies last year.
