The busy offseason for the Chicago White Sox continues, as the club signed first baseman Jose Abreu to a new three-year, $50-million contract.
Abreu accepted the team's one-year, $17.8-million qualifying offer last week, but that deal has now been nullified.
The 32-year-old slashed .284/.330/.503 with 33 home runs and an American League-best 123 RBIs in 2019.
Abreu, a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger, received down-ballot MVP votes for last season and owns a career 134 OPS+ since joining the White Sox as a 27-year-old rookie.
The announcement comes one day after the White Sox signed catcher Yasmani Grandal to a four-year, $73-million contract.
