Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams will host a press conference Wednesday morning to discuss plans to bring a Major League Baseball team to Orlando, a source told Iliana Limon Romero of the Orlando Sentinel.

A news release promoting the press conference states "Orlando has been ready for this for a long time."

Williams retired from the NBA in April 2019 to pursue other interests.

Baseball's two Florida-based franchises have struggled to attract fans for much of their respective existences. The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins ranked 29th and 30th in attendance, respectively, in 2019. It was the second straight season in which the two clubs sat in the basement in that regard.

The Rays were named this season in relocation rumors when the team received permission to look into a split between Florida and Montreal.
