The Laser Show may be back on, after all.

Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has indicated to new chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom that he plans to continue his playing career in 2020.

"Every indication I've gotten is that he's feeling good and intending on playing," Bloom said, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.

Pedroia wasn't ruling out a return to the diamond after the Red Sox shut him down for the season in August, but he was assessing his future and favoring quality of life over playing baseball. He has two years and $25 million remaining on his current contract.

Injuries have derailed Pedroia's career in recent years; he's played in a total of nine games since the beginning of 2018. The 36-year-old is coming off a fifth surgery on his left knee.

The four-time All-Star has spent his entire career with the Red Sox, winning the 2007 AL Rookie of the Year award and 2008 AL MVP honors. He owns a career batting line of .299/.365/.439 with 140 home runs, 394 doubles, and 138 stolen bases in 1,512 games.
