The Tampa Bay Rays have lost rookie Brandon Lowe for the remainder of the season, manager Kevin Cash said Thursday, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Lowe has been sidelined since early July with a right shin bone bruise and recently suffered a strained quadriceps during a rehab assignment.
The 25-year-old second baseman turned heads early during the 2019 campaign, generating some American League Rookie of the Year consideration. Lowe hit .276/.339/.523 with 16 home runs and five stolen bases over 76 games and made the 2019 All-Star roster.
