The Detroit Tigers have released veteran infielder Josh Harrison following his reinstatement from the 60-day injured list, the club announced Friday.

Harrison, 32, appeared in only 36 games with the Tigers due to a hamstring injury sustained in late May. He hit .176/.219/.265 with one home run prior to the injury.

The two-time All-Star played eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates prior to signing a one-year contract with the Tigers this past offseason. He established himself as a reliable cog in the Pirates' lineup by hitting .277/.313/.401 over 878 games.

In addition to Harrison's release, the Tigers added right-hander Edwin Jackson to the 40-man roster and released pitcher Sandy Baez.
