Bronx Bombers is a conservative nickname these days.

With three home runs before the end of the third inning in Thursday's game, the New York Yankees became the first team in MLB history to hit 19 home runs over a four-game period, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Gio Urshela hit a pair of homers and Mike Tauchman ripped one of his own against the Toronto Blue Jays to set the new mark.

The Yankees are also coming off a series against the Baltimore Orioles, a team they've absolutely pummeled in 2019. On Wednesday, they set a milestone for most homers hit against one club in a single season at 49.

Since Monday's opener in Baltimore, here's who's been responsible for all the home runs.

Name Home Runs
Gio Urshela 4
Mike Tauchman 4
Austin Romine 2
Kyle Higashioka 2
Cameron Maybin 2
Brett Gardner 2
DJ LeMahieu 1
Didi Gregorius 1
Mike Ford 1

Perhaps the most incredible aspect of this explosion is that it hasn't involved the names expected from the beginning of the season. Aaron Judge, though healthy, hasn't hit a home run since Sunday (before the streak began) and each of Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres, Luke Voit, and others are injured to varying degrees.

The role players have stepped up.

Urshela also joined the ranks of a fairly exclusive club. Responsible for a good chunk of the Yankees' recent power surge, he became the seventh player in club history to hit five long balls in three games. The last to do it was Alex Rodriguez in 2007.

The Yankees set a new major-league record in 2018 when they hit 267 home runs as a team, passing the 1997 Seattle Mariners (264) in the process. With the three (so far) on Thursday, the Yankees have 206 with more than a month to go in the regular season.

Still, it may be the Minnesota Twins who finish the campaign with the overall record. Entering Thursday, the Twins led all teams with 224 total homers.
