The Milwaukee Brewers traded first baseman Jesus Aguilar to the Tampa Bay Rays for right-hander Jake Faria, the team announced on Wednesday.

Aguilar, 29, is coming off a breakout campaign during which he hit .274/.352/.539 with 35 home runs in 149 games. The slugger has regressed this season, though, as he's posted a .694 OPS with eight homers while losing playing time to Eric Thames.

Faria opened 2019 in the minors and has made just seven big-league appearances for the Rays this season, all out of the bullpen. The 26-year-old swingman has allowed three runs on 10 hits and seven walks while striking out 11 in 10 innings pitched.

He posted a 5.40 ERA and 5.08 FIP over 65 innings across 12 starts and five bullpen appearances last year. He filled in as the No. 3 starter for a beleaguered Rays rotation out of spring training.
