Report: Struggling Rockies will listen to Blackmon offers

The Colorado Rockies will listen to offers for All-Star outfielder Charlie Blackmon, though the chances of him actually being traded are remote, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB.com.

The Rockies began the month in a position to buy come the July 31 trade deadline, but their NL-worst 3-12 record this month may force a change of plans.

Colorado has reportedly shied away from acquiring short-term rentals in light of its recent struggles. If they go the opposite direction and sell, Blackmon - a four-time All-Star with two years plus a pair of player options left on his contract - could be a hot commodity.

The Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, and St. Louis Cardinals are among the reported teams that could be ready to pounce if the Rockies make their 33-year-old leadoff man available. The Rockies would likely target pitching - a perennial need of theirs - if they wind up moving him.

Blackmon, a career .304 hitter with excellent power, is slashing .319/.365/.602 with 21 home runs and 60 RBIs in 82 contests this year.

Colorado entered Monday five games out of a wild-card spot.
