D-Backs' Young removed from no-hit bid in 2nd career start

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Alex Young was removed after six no-hit innings during his second career start on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.

Young, 25, had thrown 71 pitches through six innings of work, striking out three while issuing one walk.

The combined no-hitter didn't last long, as Yoshihisa Hirano surrendered a single to Trevor Story on the first pitch of the seventh inning.

Young had thrown 7 1/3 innings at the major-league level entering Sunday's contest, posting a 1.23 ERA and 4.16 FIP over the previous two games - one out of the 'pen.

In 54 2/3 innings with Triple-A Reno this year, the rookie owns a 6.09 ERA and 4.34 FIP while making 20 appearances, including eight starts.
