Texas Rangers infielder Asdrubal Cabrera saw his suspension for throwing equipment on the field reduced to three games after appealing the punishment, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Cabrera will miss the Rangers' upcoming three-game series in Detroit, beginning Tuesday. He'll be eligible to return Friday when the team heads to Tampa Bay.

The veteran was ejected from Thursday's game versus the Cleveland Indians for arguing balls and strikes. After being tossed, Cabrera proceeded to throw his batting gloves onto the field, hitting umpire Bill Miller's ankle in the process.

Major League Baseball initially handed Cabrera a four-game ban.

The 33-year-old is hitting .231/.312/.409 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs in his first season with the Rangers.
