Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Greinke looked like he was about to make history. The veteran was no-hitting the Washington Nationals through six innings on 59 pitches before Trea Turner broke it up to lead off the seventh.

Greinke, however, was not disappointed by missing out on the milestone. He said he'd prefer not to deal with the attention that would have followed.

"It'd be more of a hassle than anything," Greinke said, according to Zach Buchanan of The Athletic.

The mercurial Greinke has never thrown a no-hitter over his 16-year career, and has a solo one-hitter to his name from 2009 with the Kansas City Royals.

The first hit allowed was almost prevented on an amazing stop by first baseman Christian Walker, but he couldn't get the ball to Greinke in time. Walker, for his part, was disappointed.

"He looked upset. He's got a little bit of an anger problem sometimes, so just let him be," Greinke added, though he was possibly joking.

The 35-year-old finished the rain-soaked affair allowing two hits over 7 1/3 innings of work while striking out three and walking none. By earning the win, Greinke is now 8-2 on the season with a 2.65 ERA in 95 innings.
