The New York Yankees have acquired first baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales from the Oakland Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, Yankees right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
The A's designated Morales for assignment on Monday after two months with the team. The 35-year-old posted a .204/.310/.259 slash line with one home run during his time in Oakland.
Morales will join a beleaguered Yankees squad, with Miguel Andujar, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, and Troy Tulowitzki on the injured list, among others.
