The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded catcher Travis d'Arnaud to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations.
In a corresponding move to add D'Arnaud to the 40-man roster, the Rays announced third baseman Matt Duffy has been transferred to the 60-day IL.
The Dodgers signed D'Arnaud on May 5 after he was designated for assignment and released by the New York Mets. D'Arnaud made one at-bat with L.A. - a pinch-hit groundout against the Washington Nationals - before being traded.
The 30-year-old catcher owns a .703 OPS with 47 home runs over 408 career games.
The move comes after the Rays placed Mike Zunino on the injured list with a quadriceps injury earlier on Friday. Michael Perez is also on the IL with an oblique injury, leaving Nick Ciuffo and Anthony Bemboom as the club's catching tandem.
