Fried threw a couple of warmup tosses to test his hand before he was removed in the second inning. He was replaced by right-hander Josh Tomlin.

He got a bit of good news, however, as X-rays on his hand came back negative, the Braves announced. The lefty is considered day-to-day with a contusion.
The 25-year-old hurler was enjoying a breakout season as one of Atlanta's top starters before suffering the injury. He was 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA over eight games (six starts) entering Tuesday's contest.
Fried wasn't having his best outing, however, allowing three runs in the first before Verdugo's liner led off the second frame. Verdugo eventually scored, adding a fourth earned run to Fried's line in the process.
