The Oakland Athletics have traded right-hander Edwin Jackson to the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations.

Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Jackson could make his team debut on Wednesday in San Francisco against the Giants, according to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae.

The Blue Jays will represent the 14th team Jackson has played for, which sets an MLB record.

This is actually the second time Toronto has acquired Jackson. The Blue Jays traded for him in July 2011 and immediately flipped him to the St. Louis Cardinals in a separate deal.

His addition will provide the Blue Jays' rotation with a healthy arm after Clay Buchholz recently hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation.

Toronto is also without starters Ryan Borucki (elbow discomfort) and Clayton Richard (stress reaction in his knee). Matt Shoemaker was lost for the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee last month.

Jackson made three minor-league starts for the A's this year before the trade, striking out 19 in 14 2/3 innings but allowing11 earned runs.

The veteran hurler was 6-3 with a 3.33 ERA in 92 innings for Oakland last season.
