The Toronto Blue Jays have called up third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the team announced following Wednesday's game.

Guerrero, 20, will make his MLB debut Friday against the Oakland Athletics, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

There will be a press conference before the game, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun.

"It's a big moment for the Toronto Blue Jays. He's the No. 1 prospect in baseball ... Hopefully, he becomes what everybody thinks he can become, and that's going to be good for all of us, " Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said, according to the Toronto Star's Laura Armstrong.

"Just relax and play, just like I told him in spring training. Do your best. And he will. He's an easy kid to talk to ... he's an easy going kid," Montoyo added when asked what message he'll share with Guerrero when he arrives.

The young third baseman couldn't contain his excitement on Twitter:

Bo Bichette, Guerrero's teammate at Triple-A Buffalo, and Toronto right-hander Marcus Stroman also reacted to the big promotion.

Baseball's top prospect slashed .367/.424/.700 with three home runs and eight RBIs in eight games with Triple-A Buffalo this season.

He left Bisons fans with one last highlight during Wednesday's contest when he crushed a mammoth opposite-field home run.
