Yankees' Tulowitzki: I don't pay attention to boos from Blue Jays fans

Troy Tulowitzki was met with boos from fans of his old team when the New York Yankees faced off against the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin on Thursday, but the veteran shortstop didn't seem perturbed.

"I heard a little bit of both, you know," Tulo said regarding both boos and cheers from the home crowd, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. "Fans, they come to a game, they like to have fun. ... You hear it, but I don't really pay attention to it. Like I keep saying this whole spring, it's just fun to be out there playing baseball."

Yankees manager Aaron Boone says he enjoys hearing the jeers from the division rival's supporters.

"It was good," Boone told Brendan Kuty of NJ.com. "Fun. I like it. I like all that."

Due $38 million over the next two seasons, Tulowitzki was unceremoniously cut from the Blue Jays roster in early December, ending a three-season stint with the club during which the shortstop posted a .727 OPS over 238 games. Less than a month later, the 34-year-old landed with the Yankees, with whom he's slashed .227/.280/.545 with two homers over 22 spring at-bats.

Tulo hit a home run in his first trip to the plate of spring, which coincidentally came against the Jays' Marcus Stroman. After hitting the oppo shot, Tulo got pretty animated while rounding the bases. Following the game, he called the homer special because it was off of "the team that basically told me I couldn't play anymore."
