The Texas Rangers have reportedly signed outfielder Ben Revere to a minor-league deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The contract includes an invitation to major-league spring training camp, and it will pay Revere $1 million if he makes the team, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Revere, 30, last played in the majors in 2017, appearing in 109 games for the Los Angeles Angels. Over 308 plate appearances, the speedy outfielder posted a .275/.308/.344 slash line with one homer and 21 stolen bases. In 2018, Revere made 40 appearances for the Salt Lake Bees, the Angels' Triple-A affiliate.

Before that, Revere recorded the worst season of his career, hitting 54 percent lower than the league average over 103 games with the Washington Nationals, according to wRC+.

Revere is in camp to compete as a backup outfielder to add depth behind Delino DeShields Jr. in center field, Rosenthal reports. The Rangers' outfield also includes Nomar Mazara, Joey Gallo, Shin-Soo Choo, and Willie Calhoun, one of whom will likely serve as the full-time designated hitter.
