The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed catcher Caleb Joseph to a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Joseph will earn $1.1 million if he's in the major leagues this season and $250,000 in the minors, a source told Zach Buchanan of The Athletic.
The 32-year-old spent the last five seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, serving primarily as their backup catcher. He appeared in 82 games for the league-worst Orioles last season, hitting .219/.254/.321 with three homers and 17 RBIs while throwing out 20 would-be base-stealers on defense.
Arizona moved pitcher Taijuan Walker to the 60-day injured list to make room for Joseph on its 40-man roster.
Diamondbacks pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training Wednesday.
