Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout finished second to Mookie Betts for the American League Most Valuable Player award on Thursday.

It's the fourth time Trout has finished second in MVP voting in his career, joining Ted Williams, Stan Musial, and Albert Pujols for most times as runner-up in MLB history, according to Baseball Reference. Mickey Mantle also finished second on three occasions.

It's not like it's an "always the bridesmaid" scenario, either, as Trout has taken home MVP hardware twice already - in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

Trout is 27 years old. He's played in seven full seasons and has finished in the top four in MVP voting every time.

It should come as no surprise that Trout is constantly in the running for the MVP. Since coming into the AL, he's tortured opposing pitching to the tune of a .307/.416/.573 slash line with 240 home runs, 224 doubles, 44 triples, 648 RBIs, 793 runs scored, and 189 stolen bases in 1,065 games.
