Christian Yelich was one vote away from being named the unanimous winner of the National League MVP on Thursday.
The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder received 29 of 30 first-place votes with the other going to pitcher Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets, who finished fifth overall.
DeGrom's vote was courtesy of Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic, according to the BBWAA, who released voting results after the award winners were announced. Piecoro gave Yelich a second-place vote.
