Brian Snitker of the Atlanta Braves claimed his first National League Manager of the Year award Tuesday in just his third season as a major-league skipper.
Snitker received 17 of 30 first-place votes to beat out Craig Counsell of the Milwaukee Brewers and Bud Black of the Colorado Rockies.

Snitker led the surprising Braves to a 90-72 record and their first division title since 2013. It marked an 18-win improvement over the team's 2017 season.
The 63-year-old served as the Braves' Triple-A manager before taking over for the major-league club in an interim role in May of 2016. He was named the full-time manager six months later.
Snitker joins Bobby Cox as the only Manger of the Year winners in franchise history.
